Interesting, Ubisoft in the MMO space.
So much for the people claiming the gaming industry wouldn't be effected, it's a damn shame.
Not yet mate.
I'm actually intrigued, hopefully It all comes together, I'm in the mood for a JRPG.
It's time to practice what you preach. You just labelled Chrissy ignorant and then spout the same damn sh*t in reverse.... Why do I bother, it seems proper conversations are not possible on N4G...
I'm sorry but you can't actually believe that, right? Why would MS have incentives to further their hardcore approach in the industry when the other major player had been knocked out. The scariest thing is that you truly believe it, 'ignorance is bliss'...
Mate, please don't paint us all with the same brush, I dont even own a PS3 but I can appreciate the amazing things they bring to the industry.
@ Asurastrike: I'm certainly not implying LBP had to sell 2min to be a success, but given it's amazing critical claim and obvious casual appeal, Sony hasn't handled the advertising (not saying they haven't completely) as well as they could have.
@Humrima: Haven't you ever heard the saying "two wrongs don't make a right"? It's time for people to stop being sheep and stand up for what they think is right. Why do you have to stoop to their level?
@ Sarcasm: Ag...
Herein lies the problem with the gaming industry, irrational people making stupid comments on issues they totally don't understand. Why would anyone want to see 'competition' fail? Monopoly's in any industry have been shown to hurt overall quality, competition is what spurs the companies to greater success.
The mindset of fanboys this generation is appalling...
Thanks Hurima....
Socomer, come on mate look at the bigger picture, did Halo 3's marketing campaign cost a lot of cash, you bet it did, but did they make that money back tenfold, more than likely.
As you so eloquently put it... "Why do you care that the general population a.k.a. Casual tools be constantly beat over the head with
Sony products?"... Your damn right I want them to beat them over the head with it. If that's what it takes to sell a game in...
Definitely not a bad score, interestingly, more than the I expected. Though not my 'cup of tea' (sorry I have English Parents) I can actually see this selling quite well, especially with the DC license and teen rating.
Exactly, and that is what they should do. Games don't have to actually be good to sell well (I could name quite a few Wii games to back up this sentiment, but I won't), you could essentially sell anything if it was marketed well.
Start advertising, I don't care if the game is AAA or bargin bin quality, people will buy if you present them with a good enough reason to.
Sorry to burst your bubble but we aren't the people these advertising campaigns are focused on, it's the people not familiar with the latest game news or the impressive online features intertwined with LBP.
Your statement totally disregards the monumental effect advertising has on the general population, case in point look at Halo 3's damn marketing campaign, arguably the biggest in history and thus one of the biggest sellers.
Unfortunately good games don't always s...
I half agree with your statement, though some games usually tend to have a longer shelf life than others (I assume it will be the case with LBP), the majority of sales do come within the first day-week. Though I haven't personally experienced the game, 'from what I have heard/read' it's a phenomenal title, Sony are just handling it with another p*ss poor advertising campaign.
I know lots of people here hate MS, but I don't think you can downplay their marketing team... highlighte...
As much as we might not agree with the scores, it is still personal opinion guys. That is exactly why it's ridiculous when people start claiming anything below a 8.5 is a flop, I would like to see these people practice what they preach and not buy some of the most entertaining, engaging titles of the year.
Looks interesting, I haven't played a decent wrestling game in ages.
Agreed, no wonder you have so many bubbles.
Even though the hardcore disregard the Wii because of its casual appeal, for me personally Im delighted that videogames are reaching out into the mainstream. I certainly dont begrudge Nintendo their success.
"I'm so confused"
Obviously...
Sony fans I hope you don't take this the wrong way but seriously, I could train a bunch of baboons to do a better PR job than Sony is currently doing. I mean seriously, the PS3 has had arguably the strongest line-up in the last couple of months, but they just don't spend the money on advertising.
My observations were highlighted by the Fallout 3 add I saw on TV the other day, it was concluded with pictures and voice describing Fallout 3 as "Now on Xbox 360 and games for Wind...
Once again the fanboys grab irrelevant numbers and run with them. I think there are about 6-7 intelligent comments out of 84....
360 and PS3 aside, I'm amazed at the hardware numbers for the Wii, though the benefit to the games industry in terms of the hardcore demographic is questionable, the more people the Wii brings into the realm of interactive entertainment the better.
Enjoy your sales numbers people, hopefully it will ease the pain of having a life devoid of...
Are you serious, the Wii has been displayed and paraded around on most daytime and morning television shows, Nintendo advertise the damn thing with their target audience in mind.
No disrespect but I'm glad your not advertising Sony's console, there is only so much word-of-mouth will take you.
